A Food Revolution

Thank God for Jamie Oliver. Seriously.

A great chef who uses food as his tool to change the world. Tonight on ABC, a show called Jamie’s Food Revolution premieres with a two-hour special. The man himself has been all over the press: Larry King, Letterman, even Oprah. There was also a great article in the LA Times. His message is really quite simple, yet incredibly powerful and very important. America’s approach to food is not good. Worse than not good. Jamie states in tonight’s show that he’s been to the townships of South Africa and they’re eating better than our American children.

Embarrassing. And surely, true.

He also believes, and so do I, that if America changes, the world will follow.

Honestly, it’s so messed up that there is a whole lot that can be done with a minimal amount of effort. Hairs need not be split until soda, french fries, fushia pink strawberry milk and fruit loops hit the road. To me, that’s inspiring. We can clean lots of things up with a shovel, then move on to the spit shine conversations, later.

I believe in this movement to the core of my being. I wanted to share this show with you, just in case you haven’t seen the press, because I know that you will care about this, too.

I absolutely agree. I know I will never feed my kiddo another chicken nugget again that I don't make in my kitchen from REAL CHICKEN. Yuck! It's broke my heart when none of the kids knew what the different vegetables were.

Hey Molly! John posted the link to your blog a few months ago on Face book and I've been hooked ever since. Your avacado toast is a favorite in my house! I've actually just started my own blog and I'm cooking my way through "Food Revolution." Needless to say, I think Jamie rocks :) Check it out and tell John I said hi.

Just watched it on Hulu after catching the third episode live.

Definitely refreshing to see things starting to change. I hope he succeeds!
